Buy your business
We enable experienced management teams to gain ownership in the business they run.
Helping ambitious management teams to buy their business
For most executive teams, a management buyout (MBO) is unchartered territory, and undertaking such a process may initially seem daunting. Maven understands this and has worked with over 50 management teams to help them gain ownership of the business they manage.
What we look for
We back talented and committed management teams who share the same ambition to grow shareholder value as we do.
We support management teams with relevant sector experience who can demonstrate a clear vision and strategy for generating further growth.
Stage of growth
We support MBOs of businesses with a minimum EBITDA of £1 million and can invest between £2 million and £20 million in a single transaction. We can also finance buy and build opportunities and equity release transactions, where a founder or team realise some of their equity value but continue to manage and grow the business.
We prefer to invest in UK domiciled private companies, often with overseas or global operations.
We fund MBOs across all sectors, with the quality of the people and the market opportunity at the forefront of our investment appraisal.
We don't always expect businesses to be the finished article. Instead, we try to help add value to companies which have a clear, credible strategy, capable of delivering growth in profit and earnings.
How we finance your MBO
Maven is actively investing capital from its institutional buyout fund as well as from a comprehensive network of family offices and high net worth individuals, who invest through our established Maven Investor Partner network.
Private equity can fund a change in ownership, a buy and build project or a wider M&A strategy. It can also provide equity release to founders who wish to de-risk and realise part of their personal wealth.
Working together after completion
Supportive, not intrusive
We provide insight and strategic input through board and operational engagement. It is this added value and flexibility which sets private equity apart from other forms of finance.
We look to build long term positive working relationships with the people we back. We can remain flexible in our approach and take time to understand the key objectives of all stakeholders so that interests are aligned.
Private equity backed businesses have been shown to grow faster. A combination of a shared vision of the management team and the added value and support a private equity partner delivers can often help to achieve exceptional outcomes.
We have many years of collective commercial experience and access to a wide network of contacts that we can impart to help add shareholder value. Examples of this could be supporting management during complex corporate processes such as financing M&A transactions, making key introductions with new customers or suppliers, or helping you internationalise your business.

Maven believed in our vision for the business and has been a hugely supportive financial partner and adviser, helping transform SPS through a combination of small acquisitions, international growth, and operational efficiencies. SPS is in the position where it will now benefit from being part of a larger group and it is thanks to the foundations that Maven helped the management team of SPS to put into place that we are were able to attract the interest of such a successful global business.

Maven’s culture, values, and ambition for LIMA perfectly reflects our own vision for the future so we are pleased to welcome them as partners as we seek to expand our position in the market. Maven’s investment solidifies our position as we now seek to broaden our portfolio and expand the business through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisition, thereby underpinning our ambition to become the ‘go to’ cloud and managed service provider.

The sale of Westfield represents a good return for our investors. The management team has been instrumental in successfully delivering the organic growth plan in recent years and the business has performed strongly. The sale to the Sterimed Group is a great strategic fit for Westfield with significant opportunities for the two businesses to explore. It has been a pleasure to work with the Westfield management team and we wish them well as the company embarks on the next stage of its growth.
