What sets us apart
EIS investments are inherently high risk, but while traditional strategies often chase outsized returns from a few successes, our approach is selective and disciplined, backing scalable businesses with proven models and strong foundations.

- We invest in technology enabled businesses operating in growth sectors, whose products, services or business models address defined market needs or take a disruptive approach to existing market offerings.
- When selecting businesses for investment, we focus on companies where the technology is proven, there is a large addressable market and the business is ready to scale and grow.
- Our EIS portfolios are constructed using the same disciplined approach as our VCTs, combining rigorous due diligence, active monitoring, and strategic exit planning.
- We prioritise opportunities with defensible market positions and experienced executive teams capable of supporting the business through its next phase of growth.

FAQs
What is EIS?
EIS is a UK government initiative launched in 1994 to encourage investment in early stage businesses with high growth potential. Its primary goal is to stimulate economic growth by providing investors with attractive tax incentives to support these innovative, but often high risk companies, that may otherwise struggle to secure funding. EIS helps bridge the funding gap for smaller, emerging businesses in the UK and provides investors with a way to support the next generation of innovative UK companies through a tax efficient vehicle.
Why invest in EIS?
- 30% initial income tax relief on investments up to £1 million annually (subject to the investor’s tax circumstances)
- Defer capital gains tax (CGT) and pay no CGT on profits from EIS shares held for at least three years.
- Minimise risk with the ability to offset losses against income or capital gains tax.
- EIS investments can currently qualify for 100% relief from Inheritance Tax via Business Relief, provided shares are held for at least two years at the time of death. Business Relief at 100% is capped at £2.5m of qualifying assets, with any value above this subject to only 50% relief.
- Back cutting edge, high potential companies that are transforming industries and driving UK entrepreneurship.
- Gain access to emerging businesses operating across some of the UKs most vibrant sectors including, AI, healthcare, and quantum computing.
Who is EIS suitable for?
- Understand the risks of investing in earlier stage companies: EIS investments involve high-growth, innovative companies, and carry the risk of capital loss. Investors must be willing to accept the higher risk associated with early-stage businesses.
- Comfortable with committing capital for the long term: EIS investments are illiquid, and typical holding periods are 5–10 years or longer. Investors are entitled to certain withdrawal rights, including withdrawing uninvested cash on 20 days' notice and withdrawing unquoted shares after seven years, but the underlying shares remain illiquid throughout.
- Seeking tax-efficient investment opportunities: EIS offers up to 30% income tax relief, capital gains tax deferral, and inheritance tax benefits, making it an attractive option for reducing tax liabilities.
- Interested in diversifying an investment portfolio: EIS allows investors to access sectors like technology, healthcare, and clean energy, adding a unique asset class to a diversified portfolio that is uncorrelated to public markets.
