Manufacture 2030 (M2030) is a technology company that works with some of the world’s largest manufacturing businesses to help achieve environmental footprint reduction within global supply chains. M2030’s highly scalable software platform helps companies of all sizes measure, manage and reduce environmental impact in line with the latest climate science. Its reporting tools capture data from across supply chains, enabling clients to encourage suppliers to create strategies to systematically reduce carbon emissions. M2030’s technology and processes enhance clients’ operational efficiency, cut their environmental impact and enable them to procure more sustainably, driving down costs. Users of its platform include Asda, Coop, Reckitt, SC Johnson, Toyota and Honda.
The funding from the Maven VCTs will be used by M2030 to capitalise on opportunities in key markets, including the pharmaceutical, chemical, retail, automotive and fast moving consumer goods sectors, whilst expanding into carefully selected new vertical markets such as aerospace and defence, construction materials, electronics and consumer durables. The investment will also be used for continued product development and adding new functionality to the software platform.
The business has forged an attractive position in a rapidly growing market that has strong underlying drivers as global corporations seek to achieve net zero. A robust climate action plan is also often a prerequisite for smaller companies to be selected as approved suppliers to these multinationals.
The manufacturing sector and its 17 million factories are responsible for a third of global energy consumption and 36% of carbon emissions. As a result, sustainability has become increasingly prominent on the agenda of corporate decision makers and solutions such as M2030's are playing a critical role in helping manufacturers become more resource efficient and minimise their environmental impact. The investment in M2030 represents an excellent opportunity for Maven to enter a rapidly developing market at an early stage and back a business that has already demonstrated good commercial traction.
