Maven recently hosted a Meet the Manager event at the historic Butchers’ Hall in central London, welcoming shareholders from its Income and Growth VCTs 1, 3, 4 and 5, followed by a dedicated afternoon session for Maven Renovar VCT (formerly Amati AIM VCT plc) investors. The event offered insights into portfolio performance, the VCT market, and Maven’s strategy for delivering long term value, alongside the opportunity to hear directly from the investment team and portfolio company leaders.
With a guild dating back to 975 AD, and its first hall established in the late 15th century, Butchers’ Hall has a long-standing tradition of hosting gatherings focused on trade and industry, making it an ideal setting for discussing the growth and innovation being supported by the Maven VCTs.
In the morning session, shareholders heard from senior members of the Maven VCTs outlining their commitment to building highly diversified portfolios that can support the development of exciting UK scale-ups while aiming to deliver long term positive shareholder returns.
A highlight of the morning was hearing directly from two investee company CEOs, who shared their growth stories and discussed how Maven’s partnership has helped them scale.
Tom Dunlop, CEO of Summize, discussed how the legal tech business has scaled rapidly through international expansion, product innovation, and strong demand for more agile contract lifecycle management tools.
Dave Allan, CEO of CYSIAM, offered an insider’s view into the growth of this specialist cyber security business, underlining how the company’s services are addressing rising demand for critical digital infrastructure protection in the UK and abroad.
Both companies exemplify the kind of innovative, scalable businesses that the Maven VCTs are backing; firms with strong leadership teams, defensible market positions, and clear paths to exit.
The afternoon session marked the first formal event for shareholders in Maven Renovar VCT (formally Amati AIM VCT plc) and provided an opportunity to meet the new investment team.
The Maven team outlined the structural challenges currently impacting the AIM market, including poor IPO quality, low liquidity, and loss of investor confidence, factors which have contributed to underperformance across the small-cap listed space and prompted a review of the VCTs investment strategy.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended.
