Simon joined Maven in October 2019 and is based in our Manchester office. His responsibilities are to help manage the NPIF and VCT portfolio businesses managed out of the Manchester office, and to lead follow-on investments where additional investment is required and agreed.
Prior to joining Maven, Simon spent over 25 years in Corporate and Investment Banking in both London and Liverpool. Whilst at National Australia Bank, Simon worked on the Telecoms Media and Technology team, primarily looking at M&A transactions. When working in Liverpool, Simon looked after some of the largest banking relationships including major corporates and public bodies. Simon also spent 4 years working alongside HSBC assisting in the unwinding of complex financial derivatives and the consequential impact of those instruments.
He has a BA Hons in Economics and Politics from the University of Lancaster.
Simon is a life-long supporter of Rugby and was Chairman of Waterloo FC from 2008 – 2010. Simon also enjoys sailing and travelling, and spends many happy hours gardening.
Working with Investee businesses and their leaders, and helping them to deliver success is tremendously motivating – and being a little older is a definite advantage in supporting evolving businesses and technologies. Helping management teams solve complex challenges is always enjoyable.
