Maven Capital Partners, a subsidiary of Mattioli Woods, is looking for an Investment Associate to join our London AIM team.
Maven is one of the UK’s most active SME investors and a leading Venture Capital Trust manager, providing capital to private and AIM quoted public companies. The main purpose of this role is to be an active member of the AIM team, supporting investment activity and portfolio management. The team manages both the VCTs’ small-cap equity investments, and other listed-equity and capital market functions.
The role would suit a recent graduate or a candidate with up to 2 years’ experience in an investment management, corporate finance, corporate broking or research/advisory role.
Responsibilities
- Work with colleagues to monitor the performance of the AIM company holdings, investment trusts and money market funds.
- Help assist in the production and generation of regular investment reports, feedback and trading on the underlying AIM and investment trusts portfolios with the updating and inputting of monthly valuation data and financial information into internal fund reporting systems.
- Preparation and participation in meetings, conferences and events with investee and potential investee company managements, stockbrokers and other corporate finance advisers/stakeholders.
- Supporting the senior team members in helping identify companies as potential new investment opportunities by undertaking due diligence research and interpretation of relevant information.
- Regular liaison with portfolio companies, ensuring a constructive and supportive dialogue of engagement and good governance.
- Assist and support in the production of investment committee proposals for new investment opportunities and follow-on funding.
- The post holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager or a member of the leadership team.

What you need to succeed
- A degree in business, finance, economics, accountancy, mathematics or a related discipline.
- Excellent numerical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to help analyse companies and understand/interpret financial statements.
- Skilled practitioner of Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of how the City and financial markets work.
- Team player with an ability to collaborate well with colleagues at all levels.
- Organisational skills - ability to multi-task, work to and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable: - Up to 2 years’ experience in an investment management, corporate finance, corporate broking or research/advisory role.
- Holds or working towards additional postgraduate CISI Diploma, CFA equivalent or investment related qualification and ongoing CPD.
- Working knowledge of financial market data sources and systems (IRESS/Bloomberg/Fidessa or equivalent).
