Between 2004 and 2009 our team built a top-performing private equity and VCT business within global investment house Aberdeen Asset Management, and Maven now has one of the most experienced private equity teams in the UK, with over 100 years' combined experience of investing in private companies. During this time, we more than doubled funds under management, including the acquisition of three VCT management contracts from other fund managers.
We achieved market-leading performance across the unlisted portfolio:
- Invested around £86m in 43 companies.
- Raised new or top-up VCT funds in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011.
- Generated gains of over £20m from realisations across our private equity portfolio, achieving an overall 1.8x capital multiple for investors.
Maven’s investment team has a proven record in the UK SME sector, with a national presence, based on long-standing relationships in the corporate finance community.
We now manage or advise on over £280m across more than 20 Maven and Aberdeen client funds, investing on behalf of some 11,000 investors.
