Our strategy has always been to focus on investing in dynamic private companies, maximising shareholder returns through successful exits and regular dividends, and Maven continues this approach as an independent and specialist private equity business. Our team can leverage the strength and experience built up over many years to source, analyse and execute the best deals for our clients, and benefits from a UK-wide network of corporate finance advisors that introduces us to around 900 potential deals a year.
Operating from five regional offices, we provide equity finance for established and entrepreneurial SME businesses, where the enterprise value is between £5m and £25m. Our investment is usually to support an MBO, acquisition, expansion or a buy-and-build strategy, typically providing equity finance of £1m to £10m. We work to identify and help support entrepreneurial drive in those businesses. We apply a rigorous and structured approach to sourcing and transacting private equity deals, investing only in businesses where the management teams demonstrate a drive to succeed.
We are not tied to any sector or type of business, fundamentally looking to invest in businesses where we can acquire an interest at a modest entry price. In an average year, we complete six to ten deals, and deploy around £25m to £35m from a range of fund sources. Each deal will generate an annual paid yield for investors of 8% to 12%, and target a return of 2x to 5x money over the holding period.
